How to study for the Swedish citizenship test

You do not need to memorise every page. A steady, calm routine beats cramming. This guide shows you how to prepare for the Swedish citizenship test using the official Sverige i fokus material.

This is an independent educational study plan. Always verify official rules with Migrationsverket.

1. Start with one full read-through

Download the official Sverige i fokus PDF and read all 13 chapters once. Do not worry about remembering every detail. The goal is to understand the structure: democracy, history, rights, working life, health, education, and the rule of law.

2. Practise a little every day

Ten to fifteen minutes a day is enough. Use svenskpass to answer questions from a different chapter each session. This spreads the load and keeps your motivation steady.

3. Use a weekly study plan

Week 1-2: Foundation

Read chapters 1-4 and answer 10-15 questions per chapter. Focus on democracy and rights.

Week 3-4: Broaden

Read chapters 5-9. Mix daily practice between new and previously studied chapters.

Week 5-6: Mock exams

Take one full mock exam each week. Review wrong answers and revisit the weak chapters.

Final week: Confidence

Use the AI tutor to clear any remaining doubts. Sleep and rest are part of preparation.

4. Learn Swedish as you go

Many questions use civic vocabulary. Use the Swedish civics glossary and the Swedish Helper to translate tricky terms and practise simple-Swedish rewrites.

Start today

A few questions a day is enough. The test is still new, but the sooner you build a routine, the calmer you will feel when the exam date arrives.
