Question · Democracy & government
What is the main task of the Swedish riksdag?
Explanation · English
The Riksdag is Sweden's parliament. It passes laws and decides the national budget — not the government or the municipalities.
What is the Swedish citizenship test?
The Swedish citizenship test — often searched as the citizenship exam and known in Swedish as the medborgarskapsprov — is Sweden's first formal knowledge test for many citizenship applicants starting in 2026. It is designed to check understanding of Swedish society, democracy, culture, and everyday civic life.
If you are applying for citizenship, treat the test as a real milestone in your timeline — not a last-minute quiz. Official requirements and processes are set by Swedish authorities; svenskpass helps you prepare with structured study support based on the official Sverige i fokus material.
A new 2026 requirement
The formal citizenship examination is new. Many applicants are still looking for a clear, calm way to prepare.
Civic knowledge, not just language
The focus is Swedish society and civic life. Language skills help, but the test is about understanding how Sweden works.
